I just recieved a pair of Epicrates fosteri (bimini boa's)? in a trade, and was wondering when and how I should set them up for breeding.
Any help on this would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Randal,
...Welcome to the Rainbow Boa forum. There are a few people who occasionally post here who have bred Bimini Boas. Hopefully one of them will come along and provide answers to your post. I would think that Bimini Boas need some sort of cooling like most other boids. It can get chilly in the Bahamas during the winter. Bimini Boas are secretive like many of the Rainbow Boas so I would provide them with a place in their cages to hide. Bimini Boas are great snakes. The only drawback to breeding them is that many of the babies are picky eaters and require lizards for quite some time before they will switch to rodents.

Thanks Jeff for the email and advice.
I imagine baby Bimini's would be tough to switch over, as I've had to do that with lot's of baby Bothrops! LOL!
Again, you da man!

Received my ltc male bimini today. Liquid steel! Definitely love the gray and silver patersn even more then my Cuban/Haitian, etc browns and blacks. Quite impressed.
Does anyone know what other insular epicrates have similiar patterns and markings? Berry Islands, etc?
Romad,
...The Haitian Boa and the Bimini Boa and the Berry Island Boa are all three subspecies of Epicrates striatus. Actually there are a couple different subspecies on Hispaniola (the Island that Haiti is on). AFAIK all of the subspecies from Hispaniola do not have that nice silvery blue grey color and look similar to the Haitian Boas we see commonly imported. In addition to the Bimini Boa Epicrates striatus fosteri. and the Berry Island Boa Epicrates striatus fowleri the Nassau Boa Epicrates striatus strigilatis also has the metallic silvery blue grey color. The Berry Island Boa occurs on Andros Island in addition to the smaller islands called the Berry Islands. It is often called the Andros Island Boa instead of the Berry Island Boa. These three subspecies are all located in the central western Bahamas. I hunted a little on Andros Island and Nassau but did not find any snakes there. I have only seen Bimini and the Berry Islands from the air and a passing ship. I have never seen a Nassau Boa but the Bimini Boa and Berry Island/Andros Island Boas I have seen are really impressively steely looking. I wish I had room for more snakes.
