Moving a Snake

lazyj Nov 26, 2005 11:45 AM

I have a new tank for my Baird Rat Snake. She just ate last night, I was wondering how long to wait before I move her to her new tank. I thought maybe at lest 3 day so her food can digest. Thanks.

It should be fine to move your snake. As long as you're not doing extensive handling, it'll be fine.

Normally, rule of thumb is 48 hours after feeding before you handle it.

Go ahead and move it. It shouldn't be a problem. Especially if you are fairly gentle with it and your bairdi has no history of regurges or stress.
48 hours is just a general rule. By this time it is lesslikely that a snake would regurgitate it's meal.
As you get to know your snakes you will know when they can be handled and how much.
I don't worry about when I fed my snakes last.
If I want or need to handle them, I will.
You just need to be carefull.
