Hey everyone I've recently begun researching leopard geckos. I have not gotten one yet because I wanted to make sure I knew enough information beforehand. I have a question though about an issue that has been confusing me for a while. What is heat tape and is it good for a lizards tank? If I should use heat tape than should I also get a heating lamp? I want to make sure I dont do anything that would jeopardize the geckos health you know??? Alright, thanki verra much for any info you can give I appreciate it.

Heat tape is a way to heat an enclosure. It can be purchased at a number of places/websites. It basically transmits heat like a heat pad. There are clips and the like that go with it, but many have success with the heat tape.

If you can get the corret temperatures with heat tape you would not need a heat lamp, and many say that a lamp gives off light that leos do not like, though others disagree and say it gives them a night/day cycle.
Basically anything that gives you a good temperature gradient works for leos be it heat tape, heat wire, heating pads, etc... Just avoid the heat rocks as sometimes they short out and can cause burns.
