What happened to her shed???

b23ball23 Nov 27, 2005 07:45 AM

Before I left wednesday for virginia, my snake was very pale and eyes clouded over; she was about to shed. When i came back yesterday, she looked as if she had shed (no longer clouded skin)
I looked for the shedded skin... an its no where to be found!!! I looked in every inch of that cage!!

What happedned to the shed?

My leopard gecko eats his shed, but i've never heard of a snake doing it!

She hasn't shed yet; Corns go back to their normal colour just after their "blue" phase and immediately before they shed.

She should do the honours in the next 2-3 days.

Cheers

Yea B23Ball23 wait awhile, nothing to worry about. I just hope she sheds fine (in one piece) with her kinked neck not being a problem. Make sure he has something rough to rub against and if you want you can mist his cage but its not needed if the humidity is good. Good luck and take care.

No because she might not shed for 2 or 3 more days and might be hungry. Best bet is to offer her food, if she takes it she takes it. If she doesn't then you can expect to see her not taking food before a shed. Some of my corns will slam food down before a shed and only one (my caramel) will not.

Looking at that picture SERIOUSLY hurt my eyes.... Guess it is too dark in my room or that is one smokin snake!

Try some lava rock. It's decorative rock for landscaping. Very rough while very light. They can burrow under it without getting squashed, and all my snakes have used it to shed. The shed catches on there very easily.

Just put 2-3 pieces in the habitat and don't forget to raise the humidity a bit by pouring some water on the substrate on the warm side. Or handle your snake with wet hands...

Good luck and let us know!
