Nice picture! I have always associated these with reproductively active males. For a while I thought they were sperm plugs excreted by the female after copulaton. then, I realized I would find them in male cages when there was no female present. I never considered that the males could be shedding the skin of their hemipenes. I wonder if they do this as a part of their reproductive cycle. I've never found them in the cages of immature or reproductively inactive males. Throw that boy in with a girl quick!!!

Finally. Someone else has seen them!!!! I've had them from all my active males and two now from my pride and joy. Unfortunately his mate is not interested at the moment. Not sure whether to leave them together or not as I haven't cooled them fully yet, though my ecuadorians have been at it for weeks now. I have been putting male to female but do you think there could be more action if I put her in his cage?
Anyway, Thank you for shedding some light onto this as I was beginning to wonder if I had inadvertantly discovered a new parasite!!
I took it to work and put it under the microscope!

Nice one. I did too and couldn't find anything so I took one to the vet. He sent it to a lab who have since sent it on as they couldn't work it out either!! I'll let him know tomorrow!!
