about to shed?

jonpcab Nov 27, 2005 02:31 PM

I've had my beardie for almost two weeks now (a male, about 6-7 months old) And just last week his whole tail and skin on the tip of his nose to the top of his head, right after his eyes have gone from an awesome yellow/orange color to the pale color you'd find on a normal. It's dull, beige/white and the stripes are a grey looking. It looks as though he's about to shed, but it's been this way for a week. And I mist him regularly and take him for a swim once a week. Last time it was for about 45 minutes and he was chillin in the water, but still no signs of shedding. I'm just wondering how long it takes for them to start shedding after you notice the color change.

when I noticed his head, I was afraid of a burn, but it is completely impossible for his head to reach the screen top of the enclosure let alone his whole tail, which is the same color.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
jon

It can take a week or so after the skin turns grey to shed. Just continue what you are doing and he should be shedding that skin any day now.

I am in agreement. It could even take 2 weeks even with baths and misting.
