rat scratches

illius Nov 27, 2005 06:22 PM

hello, well my burm hasnt eaten for about a month or so, and I got a rat today and threw it in(live). I figured live wouldnt hurt and as long as she eats im happy and shes happy. Well she took it like a champ, the rat died but it gave a few bursts of its legs. it scratched it a little bit,not oh my god bloody, but noticable. I figure shell shed it off when she sheds, right? has anybody had that happen?

It should be fine, just keep everything clean. Perhaps ask others on this forum for prekilled alternatives to picky eaters.

I remember a clip from National geographic of an anaconda eating a 100lb rat... I've forgotten the name, but it's the world's largest rodent down in the amazon. Anyways, the snake won, but not until it sustained some major gashes from both teeth and nails.

LOL Amazon rats are called Capaberas. Look more like a guinea pig and can reach 200 lbs. if an anaconda don't get to em first

Ill ask around, I figured it would be fine because the scrathes whernt skin deep. but It's better to be safe than sorry.
