Am I seeing that correctly - the milk has a colorless nose?
Routering grooves in wood and laying the heat cable in works well. I prefer particle board or melamine for this application. You may need 2 or 3 rows on each shelf. For shoeboxes I used 2 passes of the heat cable on each shelf. Worked out nicely, but takes more work in cutting grooves in the shelves. I use about a 2 1/2 " space between cable runs, but you may want to experiment yourself.
The nice thing about heat cable is that you can make more runs for heat over more area if you need to. You may want to router more grooves than you think you'll need.
Vision is making racks that use heat cable. You can place as much or as little as you want under the boxes. This is about as controllable as you can get. Better than the "one width of heat tape only" method, especially if housing different animals with different heat area requirements in the same rack.
Hello,I use hundreds of feet of that heat cable,I live in Florida and I run it behind my tubs and control with a helix thermostat,to get the right tempature I set a thermoter in a tub and adjust accordingly,I have used them for years with no problem at all,Terry M
