Please post some pics of various corns you have caught in Cumberland, Hoke, and Scotland County. I am curious to see where the animals begin to change from the mostly dark gray with maroon saddles of the sandhills into the more orange and red of the coastal plain. Seems like Cumberland Co. is right in the middle of that transition zone. I'd like to see pics of adults as well as babies.

I was really hoping to find a western piedmont/foothills NC corn this year, but didn't find any. They are pretty hard to come by out here! Very different from the ones in the eastern part of the state also.

Thanks and look forward to seeing you in the spring...

Michael

Hi there Michael! . . . SSappenin' man!
Here are some Cumberland county examles: First is an adult female that I found about 1/2 mile from my house. She was not as pretty as most of them (pic was a little misleading) and also had quite strong longitudal stripes appearing on her. I released her back into the wild about four months ago.
Second pic is a 3 foot male found 6 miles further east of my house (about a half mile from where the golden corn was found), right near the Cape Fear river. The pic is really bad, since he's the most beautiful/red looking example I've ever found here in this state. He closeley resembles an okeetee minus the orange wash on the belly. I still have him (to use for breeding).
Third pic is another 3 foot male found about a quarter of a mile from where I found the golden corn. I used him to breed to my golden corn since he was the closest locality male I could come up with for her (still have him too).
Tomorrow I'll try to post some Scotland county & Richmond county animals for you. It's kinda' late right now and I don't have the pics loaded on here yet. . .

I've been covered up with work out here. Can't wait to get back down east.

You are a lucky guy to live close to such nice animals. Shoot me an email over when you have a few minutes...
