Pics of my new Crestie

Lyn Nov 27, 2005 08:15 PM

This is my new Crestie, no name yet. He (she?) doesn't have a tail. I don't know what you would call this color/pattern (if you have any thoughts I'd love to hear them).

Can you tell by looking at a photo if my new Crestie is a boy or a girl? I have a male who has very distinct bulges. This one has what could be bulges, but very small.

I'm sorry I do not know the age. He (she?) is the same size as my male Crestie who is a few years old though.

Thanks for looking, any comments welcome.

Looks like an adult female to me. Very nice coloration on that one too. I'd call her a yellow with some partial pinstriping. Hope you don't mind my asking, but where did you buy her from? Congratulations on the new girl. Good luck with her.

I got her from a local pet store for $50. I actually went in for a hedgehog cage but accidentally wandered through the reptile section and spotted her (hoping you are right and it is a her). I asked to hold her and she seemed healthy and active. I thought maybe I'd come back next week when I had more money and see if she was still there. I picked out a $100 cage for the hedgehog I plan to get next weekend. It was on sale for $75 so I was pleased. I went to cash out and the cage rang up $27 instead of $75. Tempting to sign the credit card slip and run like heck, but I was a good girl and turned the cage around to show her the price sticker. She looked at the sticker, looked at the cash register, thought about it for a moment, was at the end of the day and she looked tired. I think she figured was more work for her to credit it out and re-ring it or whatever she had to do, so she said I could have it for the $27. Since I was saving so much on the cage, I ran back and got the Crestie! I figured it was one of those "meant to be" things. I have her temporarily in a large Reptarium with branches and live plants. I will eventually get her one of the 18" by 18" by 24" Exoterra enclosures. I got one this weekend for my male Crestie and it's a great enclosure. The Crestie actually looks more orange than came through in the pics. I was dissapointed I could not capture her true color. She's not bright orange or anything, just more so than in the pics. Here is my Male "Snickerdoodle" and my young female "Ginger Snap". I got them from my friends a short while back.

wow, that's a pretty sweet looking female crested ya got there ( atleast appears to be from the photos, and if it's the same size as a several year old male then it's def. female)
that's gettin pretty close to what most would refer to as a creamsicle, but maybe not as white/cream as it should be.
I'd probably call it an orange and yellow flame with some partial pinstriping.
if that's a female, you basically stole it for 50 bucks.
keep her separated from the others for atleast 2 months for quarentine, as petcos and pet smarts don't seem to understand why you keep animals in specific enclosures and like to house wc and cb animals together, or in cages that may keep the animals from eachother, but that's all that's staying separate.
awesome how it all worked out for you too, with the cage and the crested, those are the kind of things that make you feel really awesome before going to bed that night
here's a gem ( that ended up turning out female) that i got from a petco for 49 dollars
her name is " novo"

Lyn Nov 30, 2005 06:44 PM

I love Novo, I always thought she was a boy for some reason though. I had no idea that was a Petco gecko, I figured you paid a mint from a breeder. I am only here on and off so I missed where she had actually come from if you had posted that info in the past. Now that I'm up to 6 rhacs I'm sure I'll be here a lot more. They sure are addicting!

Very pretty color and pattern. Shes sweet, best wishes with her. Never have to worry about her losing her tail either.

That always makes me nervous about having one, I like to handle my lizards.

But they sure are CUTE !
