Fluker's Repta-Calcium vs Fluker's Calcium:Phosphorous

nimmerfroh Nov 27, 2005 10:21 PM

I answered another thread as to what calcium supplement I use for my tortoise in general...which would be Fluker's Repta-Calcium, but then I see on their website it says I should be using Fluker's Calcium:Phosphorous for tortoises and Repta-Calcium for turtles. So am I doing any harm to my Hermanns tortoise by using the Repta-Calcium product which I assume does not have the recommended calcium/phosphorous ratio as does the other product? The Repta-Calcium product says the following:

Calcium not less than 36%. Ingredients: Limestone flour,
flavor, D-activated animal sterol (source of vitamin D-3)

A good quality diet with good quality lighting, and well, overall optimal husbandry will be your #1 assets. Your calcium supplement should be fine; the phosphorus will be taken in from the rest of the diet.
