Mantella bernhardi morphing problems

tkosch Nov 28, 2005 08:44 AM

I was wondering what the best set-up is for morphing mantella tadpoles. I have been loosing animals while they are in the process of absorbing their tails. Some of the animals appeared to have problems with their front legs emerging. Which is probably due to some husbandry problem, so if someone could give me some advice on tadpole diet, and set-up I would greatly appreciate it.

If there is a problem with the front legs then the metamorphs are due to spindly leg syndrome (SLS) and modifying the enclosure won't help affected metamorphs. Depending on the severity of the sls, mortality will approach 100%.
