Hi,
I just thought I'd share a couple things I learned when I built some chameleon cages. The first is from Jim Flaherty, they guy who is in this months Reptiles magazine article on Panthers. His cages are awesome. First, put some side braces on the side frames and run some 1x2's across the cage to set the plants on about a foot or so above the floor, and put a hard surface plastic piece down on the floor. That way you can open the door and squeege out the cage and it's clean in about 3 seconds. Makes cleaning easier. Second, instead of splitting the wood like that and having to use braces, pocket hole jigs are rather inexpensive. I'll see if I have some of the pics to post for you. They are 4 foot wide and have 3 cages, each 16 inches side to side. Great for males. I went 2 foot deep and 5 foot high.

Hey Paul, thank you for the reply and information.

The idea for the base is great! At the moment there is a screned bottom. Once the shelf is built for all the cages to be slid into (for the winter, and fall, and cold spring nights, since I am in Canada) I will place large rubbermaid tubs below to catch the water that passes through.

I will defenetly take that into consideration.

Thank you for the photos aswell... What do you think about taking a trip to see the wilderness of Canada during the winter? Build me some cages?
