Sound Speakers near Sinaloan snake.

LuisMarques Nov 28, 2005 09:44 AM

Greetings.

The PC is near my terrarium so the 2 sound speakers and the subwoofer are also near it. Should I never turn them on so it doesn't disturb the snake? Or can I just play music as long as it doesn't get too loud? Or isn't a problem at all?

Thank you.

i would not turn them up sky high, or leave it on for real long time, and i would try to move the snake away from the speaker

You never know. A little Julio Iglesias during breeding season to get them in the mood and some Willie Nelson just to lay back might be nice. LOL

Snakes do not have any sense of hearing so they cannot hear sounds as we humans do but THEY DO FEEL SOUND VIBRATIONS VERY WELL. So, I would strongly suggest keeping the snake terrariums away from and not in the same room as your sound speakers are located. Otherwise, everytime you play the music, they would feel like there's an earthquake taking place. You might stress them more than is necessary if they do not get the peace and quiet they are naturally accustomed to.

hope that helps.

I'll second that your snakes can't hear the music. But, they will feel it extremely well. Did anyone else see the Jeff Corwin show where he had a rattler coiled up with a cell phone on either side of it. They put the one phone on loud ringer, and the other phone on vibrate only: First they called the loud ringer phone, which the snake obviously couldn't hear and totally ignored. Next they called the vibrating only phone, and the snake instantly spun around and investigated the source of the vibrations.

Same situation here, especially with a subwoofer. The ultra low frequency vibrations can be felt and will undoubtably cause your snake or snakes undue stress. You're gonna have to pick which hobby you want to do in the computer room, one or the other. You just can't have both.
