Second ovulation a month later and after a presumed POS...????

robertmcphee Nov 28, 2005 11:48 AM

Let me know what you think about this. Just curious if anyone else has had something similar happen. She ovulated around nov. 1st she shed on nov. 15 and now it is two weeks later and she is huge, and appears to be going into another shed.

Hmmmmmm.......

Thanks
Bob

Hey Bob, how have you been? Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.
The first Boa I ever bred was Big Momma, and she did the same as your girl in question. I think I understand it a little better now....than, then.

The first ovary ovulated, and then a month later the second one fired off. Hopefully she will have retained sperm for the second ovary.

My girl produced 13 healthy babies, one premie undeveloped and 26 slugs....also had 2 sheds, but the count went from the first shed.

I am guessing, but the second ovary had no sperm for producing viable babies in my girl and that is where the slugs came in....could also explain the premie undeveloped baby that I had to put down...it could have been from the second ovary, and not enough time to develope.

Hope this helps, and good luck with that girl. Andy

I just hope that she retained enough sperm....her first ovulation was tiny in compared to the second....

Oh well we will see in a few months...

Don't confuse pre-ovulation swelling with ovulation. I hope you were not quick to remove your male. Good luck with your breeding.

I know what pre-ovulation is.....Im pretty confident it was the first ovulation. I have been able to see two ovulations in almost every female when you pay close attention. Pre-ovulation is only a general swelling in the vicinity of the ovaries, an actual ovulation is a much more pronounced swelling with a shape much more defined than what is seen during the pre-ovulation cycle.
