Just sharing a picture...

Long time lurker, but rarely post. Have been herping since '68 and have a small private collection for my own enjoyment. For lack of many pics of big albino burms, I thought I'd post a shot from the other day. Camera was sitting atop the glass on timer mode as I climbed into the cage. About all I got in there was my arm, since she was in the breeze-way that connects two enclosures. I top 200 pounds, so my arm isn't as small as it appears (wink). She's healthy, on a lean diet, was received from Mark Kennedy at 54-inches and was born in June '00. Some day I'll garner enough to help to provide a decent full size picture. At the moment it is not possible. Enjoy.

She was just shy of 16-feet in Feb. of this year. I need to tape her again, since she's probably reached this milestone by now. Her last reliable weighing (certified feed scale) was in Jan. '04 (almost 2-years ago) and she was exactly 150-pounds. She was 14'3" at 150-pounds, so I suspect she's 200'ish now. A very tractable snake (for as tractable as a snake this big can be) and a pleasure to own. She's never bitten or struck at anyone, but she's not given much opportunity to have bad hair days with strangers. I'm pretty careful with her. Her cage consists of (2) 4' x 4' enclosures adjoined by an 8' x 30" connecting passageway. She stretches out along the outside perimeter often and this allows her a full 16-foot run of floor space. She probably would eat a lot more, but I keep a moderate diet of rabbits coming her way. She can eat 12 to 14-pounds rabbits -- and take 'em from either direction. In fact, can pop 'em in her mouth like vitamins. (grin) Fortunately, I have a local rabbitry (USDA, for human consumption) raising my rabbits to-order (80-cents per pound - local delivery). Nice cash flow for him, incredible resource for me (and my other big girl).

Hey Jon,

That photo isn't enough! I'd love to see your girl in her entirety. Why is it that you can't get full size pictures of her right now?

Please post whenever you can get a full shot of her.

Thanks,
- Mark

I know, I know... almost didn't post this picture just because I lack the follow-up pictures. Unfortunately, the den/study she is in also contains an even bigger enclosure for my retic, plus some other smaller critters. Add in the typical office furniture and barrister bookcases and well... there ain't much floor space left for taking pictures. I simply can't get back far enough to get full length shots anymore. And since she's in the basement, I need some help getting her upstairs for a good photo-op. I have tons of older pics back in the 11 - 13 foot range, but nothing since she's really put on the bulk.

She looks huge. I also can't wait to see the full size pic. If that is your burm how big is your retic? I would also like to see the cages if you could take a pic of that. Very cool though.

Here are a couple of (poorly lit) pictures of this burm a couple of years ago. These were on her 3rd birthday (06-05-03). I promise a current picture when I can pull it off.

Very nice. Best of luck with her! When/if you can get a full shot of her now, please post it. What a beautiful girl!
