Newbie with a question....please

Chameleon996 May 18, 2003 04:16 PM

I posted recently that my hubby talked me into a leopard. Well I have some more questions,IYDM.

1. She is about 3 1/2 inches long. How old do you think she could be? ( the store didn't know )
2. Do leopards lay eggs without mating?
3. She does this cute wiggling thing with her tail right before she pounces on her food. Is this normal?

She is probably somewhere around 3 weeks to 1 month old.

2. Do leopards lay eggs without mating?

Females can but they are always infertile.

3. She does this cute wiggling thing with her tail right before she pounces on her food. Is this normal?

It is completely normal. I dont know why they do it, but it is nothing to worry about.

1) I don't know exactly how old she is because every leo grows at different rates and some are naturally smaller than others. But at that size, she is quite young.

2) Female leos sometimes lay infertile eggs without mating, but it seems like the majority of them do not lay eggs unless they have mated.

3) Leos often wiggle their tails before pouncing on a prey item. It is a very natural response to the excitement of the hunt.

Hope this helped!!!

Thanks for the replies I was wondering if I should expect her to lay unfertalized eggs like my chams do. At least if she does she won't lay 30 like they do LOL.

well you shouldn't expect her to lay eggs but you should already have a humid hide and if she had eggs that is where she would lay them. Now if she does lay eggs (she will prob. be more than a year old) it is just as demanding on their bodies so just hope she doesn't.
