Blue spot on leo

WindyO Nov 28, 2005 09:46 PM

These are the best pics i could take. I didn't want to enhance them in any way. The blue is between her eyes. It's not alot but it is a start.

that leo was free??!?!?!?!

WindyO Nov 28, 2005 10:15 PM

When you spend as much as i did this year you get a couple of freebies. I got hooked up nicely from four different vendors this year. She is amazing as a SHTCT Baldy , but with the blue?!I just wish she was a he. By the time i get a noticeable amount of blue Ron Tremper will probably have solid blue ones.

I hate to be the one to break this to you...the blue you see is from the eyes. It isn't a pattern or morph. I have several geckos that have "blue" or "green" between the eyes. I don't know why some are blue & some are green but I do know that it is from the eyes.
RT's "blue" gecko is believed to have a blue dot on the tail or back area, not the head. I don't know of anyone who has actually seen Tremper's project. He also allegedly lost his F1 eggs in an incubator mishap so if he has a blue leo, we probably won't see anything for a year or two (if ever!)

I know what you are talking about with the eyes. They are usually green, and blue with blizzards. This is between them and skin color not from the eyes. The pics turned out poorly but if you saw it you can tell.

Stunning leo i'm not saying it is or is's but how sure are you that it's not a old bite wound ?.I don't own of course you do so only you know if the the blue skin texture is the same as the orange.

why dont you e-mail tremper? I'm sure he would be interested in this, especially if hes working on a blue project.

The reason i breed them is for a hobby. I enjoy breeding the different types and seeing what i can come up with. If i were to try something with RT i am pretty sure what my role would be. He has countless more exsperience and would dominate any work. So i feel i would be just handing over to him instead of being involved. I am NOT trying to disrespect the man. His work is the foundation for my own. I would just like to be involved in this.

Ok, in that case, do you think he would not have useful information for you? I didn't mean hand them over to him. Ask him if he has any info, or possibly your info would help him. Just a thought.

Actually i called him after all and left a message. I couldn't get through his email is messed up. I don't have any useful info for him. I just lucked out and found it. I do want to send him a picture and get his opinion if he is willing.I don't think i will be needing much help though because i just found a male with similar markings.

To me it just looks like a little miscolor. I doubt its genetic, but it never hurts breed them and find out. If it is genetic i wish you the best of luck.

It seems like everyone is sceptical but i am not a complete rookie. I have about 30 geckos i care for year round. They are all individually housed except for two normal couples. The two with the marks have never been with another gecko and the color goes down on the nose. I know what the eye color you are talking about. It looks like it is under the skin where as this is on the skin away from the eyes.I can't get a better pic with my camera because it blurrs when i try to get closer. I just put up those pics to share and see if anyone else had similar findings. I guess we will see in the spring if i am right or not.

I don't think it's the blue that you find on leo eyes as it's in between the eyes and if there live there life on there own it can't be a bite wound. So good luck with your (Blue headed tangerine) project hope your sucessful as if would benifit all us leo fans if you are in the future.Maybe in 15 to 20 years time we'll have (blue headed normal)(blue headed blizzard),ect maybe blue headed albino types all thank to you .

Gazz Dec 01, 2005 10:48 AM

Here's a picture in the link of a (blizzard) this is the best leo morph to show where the blue exist on the eyes. You can see that the blue on (windy-O)(super hypo tangerine) exist in a different place on the head.
