Reincarnation is apparently real because my Gecko is Houdini!

Is it normal for geckos to roam around and constantly claw at the sides of their tanks as if trying to escape? Mine has started doing that recently, and I don't know why. I have a 10 gallon tank, which I might be expanding to 20 or 30, just so she can have enough room. My gecko has plenty of stuff to climb on, including two hides, a stone, and a bridge. Is this strange or is it just normal gecko-ness?

There are a few reasons I've seen with this behavior.

1. New home.

2. Small home.

3. She? Has she been with a male? Is she digging up her moist hide? Most of my first time moms tried their hardest to get out of their tanks, just before laying. Tearing up the substrate in the moist hide. She can also produce eggs without a male, just not fertile. Or depending on how long you have had her, she could produce fertile eggs, if with a male before you got her. I read that they tend to be like that with thier first clutch, and I've seen it first hand, they give up trying to get out after the first clutch. I guess they try to find a hiding spot outside of the normal places to potect thier eggs.

Just some ideas. Other than the home maybe to small for her and she wants something bigger, I woudn't worry about it. Not saying a 10 gal is too small for 1 leo, just she may like some more room. LOL

I think its the new home one because my gecko used to do that and about a month ago i changed the set up and I havent seen her do it since, and she is also in a 30 gallon now.

They do it because they are stressed and are trying to get out. In some way your not satisfying one of their needs or else what ballonz said.
