Pest control???

trinacliff Jul 23, 2003 10:19 AM

What do you do about pest control? Is the little amount of spray that they use harmless enough, since we (humans) can be in the house even when they spray? My father (who has a Jax) has this done at his house, but today, they would not let him spray in the room where the cham is. Is that ok?

We have this "tubes in the wall" system at our house, and it gets treated about once every few months...we can never smell any odor or otherwise tell that it's been done. Do you think this is ok, as well?

What do you all do? Or, do you just let the bugs in so you can feed them to your chams? LOL!!!!

Thanks!
Kristen

Hi kristen,

I would be very careful about this - sort of like the cigarette questions someone recently posed. Can you move them somewhere when this takes place? When I lived in Boston and we got sprayed monthly I even took my cats out. If you can't relocate them (putting into a smaller tank) Maybe you can put plexi-glas on the top (get a size to fit with a notch in one corner so you can get it off) and keep that on for 24 hours while any fumes dissapate. Just b/c you can't smell it doesn't mean you're not breathing it in! I have to say, I don't miss living in FL for this very reason - the bugs! We have nicer bugs up here (except for the black flies)
