Yeah, no papers on this guy so he goes back. I have not gotten many calls on these guys maybe one other since Ive been down here. Gregg are they still destroying peoples gardens out there? Last time I was in the Keys I read some funny stories in the paper about them.

They probably have GREEN CARDS!

They are dumped here (Austin TX) on a regular basis.

Maybe they will be banned from most major cities now that they have been deemed VENOMOUS! I can only hope.

I get calls on a regular basis to either catch one or take one in.

Yeah the winters are not that bad here, its possible they could make it in the right area. Some of the gated community golfcourses come to mind.hahaha

Haven't heard complaints here about gardens being ravaged, but I can imagine what a couple of five footers could do to a pea patch.

I know of several areas in the county that, given the right weather conditions, I could pretty much guarantee seeing some big fellas out basking. Another exotic lizard that is firmly established in PB county is Basiliscus vittatus. The males get to fairly impressive dimensions.

The local rescue I am a board member on has pretty much stopped taking in iguanas do to space, money, and the sheer amount of iguanas being dumped off on us! Kinda sad, babies are ALWAYS in stock at Petco for $25 or so, a perfect temptation for the impulse buyer. With so many green iguanas being abandoned or dumped off at rescues, it's amazing that there are close to 1/2 a million of these animals still being imported into the country each year.
