how long/large does a female nelsoni milk have to be to breed safely?

steffenssnakes Nov 29, 2005 10:51 PM

Hi
I was just wondering how large a female nelsoni has to be to breed without endangering the snake? Same question for a cal king female. Also how long does a nelsoni typically get?
Thanks
steffen

I'd say 28 inches would be the bare minimum on the Nelson's. I like to get my females up to 32 inches, though.

On the Cal King, I'd go with 36 inches as the minimum. Both types of snake can successfully breed at smaller sizes, but in my experience this stunts their growth.

As far as the Nelson's size, they can get to around four feet. Captive bred examples do not seem to reach these lengths on a regular basis - especially albinos.
