developed a bad habit?

My two oldest geckos which are about 16 months old are healthy and all but when i got them i always spoon fed them. I would get a mealworm with a spoon and drop it in front of them and they would eat. My two youngest ones, i jut leave a plate of food and they eat like crazy. Im trying to get my 2 oldest to do the same. I've been leaving plates of mealies the last 2 nights and tonight i went back to the spoon method and my male ate about 20 mealies. Also they stay in their humid hides alot more now and don't come out at night like they used to. My younger ones which are about 5-6 months come out every night. All my gecks are healty and fat. Just want to know if the winter is slowing my 2 oldest ones down a bit.

Yes the winter usually slows down a lot of geckos for a couple of weeks but they should become active again.
