cool pic of boa bathing

havic Nov 30, 2005 01:30 AM

Here is a pic of one of our new aquisitions he is one of two brothers that we rescued they have had three diff. oweners so we are unsure of the parentage or exactly what kind of boa they are we were told by the last owner that they are red tail boas but they dont seem to have that really red coloration in their tails its more of a brown color. anyways this is the smaller of the two taking part in his favorite past time bathing he would soak for hours if we let him. whats your opinion on what they are red tails or not?

firstly, all red tails don't have a bright red tail. but he/she is a red tail. That one looks very much like my Colombian.

that's a nickname slapped on by the pet trade for marketing purposes...
Colombians are bci and are not true redtails like bcc are.

I have descrived the difference as looking at a tree in the fall with multi colored leaves and saying it has an overall red appearance (common colombian bci), and then looking at a bright red fire engine (bcc{ surinam, guyana, peruvian, brazilian, etc.})

ok cool thanks for the input i didnt think he was a true red tail.we still think they are great looking boas. so you would call him a bci. what exactly does bci/bcc mean if you dont mind me asking

reading on this site...

www.RioBravoReptiles.come

look at the different subspecies (bci, bcc, bcl, bca, etc) of boas and read the differences in their care sheets. You will learn alot if you do this.
