New teguixin abrasion question

groundskeeper24 Nov 30, 2005 03:34 AM

I acquired a six month old Colombian on Sunday. It is robust and wide-eyed, but has some obvious skin isssues, most likely from not being kept in conditions conductive to proper sheds. There are for example small abrasions on top of the head and one on the back. The tip of the tail is also missing. The bright side is that since being housed with me, it has been shedding like crazy (also still has all digits). I was wondering if anyone had any good general advice on treating the abrasions. Is there a cream or ointment I can use to stem off possible infection? Here are my current conditions" 75 gal glass tank, 8 inches deep cypress mulch, large water pan in cool gradient side, 3 large cork hides, screen top, 1/2 covered with books to keep heat in, 75 watt ceramic element and UTH on warm gradient side. Any other teguixin help is appreciated. Sorry for the length.
