Remember that you said that your ig had MBD and the swelling had gone after the treatment? How long did it take to disappear?Im asking that because my BD jaws are perfect, only the sides are swollen, so i have the hope that when that disappear his jaws will look normal again. Can you tell me what you have done to cure your baby and how long it took you to cure the swelling?

I don't remember the timing exactly, because this was awhile ago now. But Lizard's jaws, at the time, were swollen on the sides, but met up perfectly in front. After we got him on Neocalglucon (vet prescription), and had him under a UVB light the swelling started to gradually go down. One month later the side swelling was still present, but barely noticeable. After two months, the side swelling was gone. However, the lower jaw receded from the upper jaw as time went on. This had to do with contraction and bone density, and is fairly common.

As for curing, I think you know what I did. Besides the Neocalglucon, I basically just gave him everything he should have had since he was a hatchling - proper temperatures, basking lights, UV light, fresh water available all the time, and good greens and veggies. And lots of TLC. He didn't eat on his own at first, so I helped him eat. When I still couldn't get him to eat, we had to force feed some veggie baby food. Fortunately, after a few weeks he started to eat a bit more. Not a lot, but enough so that we didn't need to force feed. Now, of course, he eats two full salad plates of food every day. The day that I realized that he definitely was going to get better was the first day he ate more than 2-3 little bites of food on his own. He ate a total of 9 bites BY HIMSELF that day, and i felt like celebrating! Just think how angry he'd be now if all I gave him for a meal was 9 bites, LOL.

That all makes it sound a bit easier than it was, but it really wasn't too bad. Then again, we got him to the vet before his MBD was too far advanced. If it's caught much later, I think it would take much longer to recover. Anyway, I wish you luck with your little dragon, and I hope he recovers quickly.

"After two months, the side swelling was gone". Two months only? I have had him for almost 2 months and the swelling is still noticeable! And he doesnt eat by himself too! Not even 2 bites!Your baby recovered very fast!Or perhaps my dragons'health was worse! He could not walk very well when he arrived home, he walked like he was on a bike and could not lift his vent from the floor, too. Now he is much better but his elbows are still stiff .He cannot put his arms backwards, along his body like my igs do when they are relaxed!
So regarding his jaws i can expect a permanent deformity! Thats not a good new!But ill love him anyway!

If I recall correctly, you couldn't get Neocalglucon or a similar drug in Malaysia, right? I've heard from others that have used it that it really speeds up the recovery. It takes a long time for the bone density to get up to where it should be, but neocalglucon or a calcium injection help dramatically with the symptoms pretty quickly. Lizard dragged his butt when he walked while he was sick, too. Not that he walked very much, since he was so lethargic.

Is there any way you can get Neocalglucon or a similar drug there? I certainly can't guarantee anything, but it might bring some improvement.

PE sent me by mail a bottle of Bone Aid. Isnt him sweet?Although the bottle is small it will last years because according to the Directions only one drop a day will be enough for Croissant!
