Cage for Life?

Embowe Nov 30, 2005 03:32 PM

I dont know where else to post this so I figured I would try here rather than spam all the forums. i have a 6'x18"x2' enclousre that I want to use to house a lizard of some sort. The question I am asking is what would be able to live in here FOR LIFE and not have any issues.... ican start with a smaller tank if needed but this will be the home it will have for the rest of its life...Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could put in here

that would be great for uromastyx or beardies. im not sure but maybe a blue tongue skink. a desert ig might be able to but i think they need more space. whatever you do, good luck and im sure ill here from you again.

I have been thinking of beardies....how many would you suggest in the tank...From what I have read more than one BD in a tank is hit or miss if they will get along ok?

yea, i made the mistake of keeping two beardies together, 1.1 pair when they were young and the female stressed out so bad that she wouldnt eat, bask or do anything a normal bd would and in the end i was feeding her through a tube until she did pass. but, some ppl do successfully keep beardies together. i wouldnt put more than two in that tank tho. they like their space.

I really dont suggest BD's they require lots of time and loads of sace I suggest keeping one or two leos in there. am an owner of a few leos and find they are great pets. I find they are great as you start off with simple leos and then you get interested in different morphs and breeding. I would get a juvie if I were you a 6 mths leo around. They are better as eos tend to get use to you and there new habitat faster when they are young you then also get to witness the changing of colours on a normal morph. hey have developed some canned food, but you still have to feed them live stocks. What also helps choosing your herp is to look on the different forums read a bit and see the prblems some cause and there are some great pics. If you get a leo use the leo forum by the way leo is short for leopard gecko.
