whats the largest species of blood python and whats there average size
This is one of those HEAVILY debated questions. According to AVERAGES, p. brongersmai is the largest of the blood and stp species, however, I personally have a 6' 30lb male Sumatran Short Tailed Python (Black Blood). I have seen a few imported brongersmai that were over 6 feet in length, but I have yet to see a cb bigger then 5.5 feet. I am sure they are out there, I just personally havent seen one. Kara has a HUGE red, its probably right around the 5.5 mark or maybe a tad bigger.
So according to averages-
Largest: python brongersmai
Second Largest: python breitensteni
smallest: python curtus
But again these are averages and their are always exceptions to the rule! More often then one would think.
Jordan has got a borneo male that is over 6 feet also.
Just some food for thought.
I think updated studies need to be done on this subject and anything else partaining to Blood and Short tailed Pythons.... the 10 year old literature is just to old, we have come A LONG way since then, and it really does need to be updated.
