Your thoughts on Pinstripes.....

Luke9815 Nov 30, 2005 05:51 PM

I was talking with someone about this the other day....but whats with the pinstripes? I know that there hasn't been a super proven yet and maybe thats why people are trying to get rid of them for half the price they started at this year...but what most people don't realize...there has only been ONE breeding of pinstripe to pinstripe and every baby was a pinstripe. Brian could have EASILY missed out on a super in that clutch. I think it was 2 years ago that they were even first sold.
We all saw it with the mojaves...they got cheap cause no one saw a super in the first 2 years that they really started coming out so the prices started dropping drastically...then a super pops out and everyone is trying to sell them for so much more but since they've all been bred and sold SO much and for cheaper than normal....it can't handle a jump in price...especially as high as some were trying to make them.

If you really think about it too....yes spiders don't have a super form. But what are the chances of two different dom/co-dom genes of not having a super. I know I don't have any credible information for this assumption...but as with the others...there haven't been enough breedings to know for sure yet.
I'd just hate to see this happen to such a beautiful morph because people got impatient to see if there were a super or not.

So tell me what you think.....

hi there
brian at bhb is the best breeders out. and he make sure there is no super out there on any of his project be for he will sell any snake. this keeps him from cutting off his feet like ive seen from so many other breeders out there. snake keeper sold the mojave before they found out there was a super. the pinstripe and the mojave proved out in the same year. brain did sell any tell last year or the year before. and it was limited numbers at that. the mojaves where sold way to soon. the same with lesser if you breed something and something different comes out why sell them? i would of sat on it to see why!
very body is out there to make a quick buck. thats my two cents.

Yah, what a terrible thing with Mojave’s. Project shared with lots of small breeders, readily available and priced for the masses, nice super, and not much room left for them to come down with any big price drops.

I called brian and spoke with him about how many pin x pin breedings he's done and that is exactly what he told me. He said that he wanted to do it this past year but felt more compelled to work it into other projects. Also that he would have more females ready for this year instead of last. So this year he will be breeding a couple more pin x pin breedings and hopefully we will see the super come out of that.

Hi Luke

Luke, it's the nature of the beast ... the human. Once you sell even one animal from a project, you have lost control of that project and no matter how awesome your animal is, no matter how much potential there is, there will always be someone that wants to make their money back ASAP. There is no requirement to take a course in marketing when people decide they want to breed snakes and sell them.

And unfortunately, we can't all just sit on every animal we invest in until we can flood the market with them.

Brian will always be ahead of everyone else with Pins, just like Kevin will always be ahead of everyone with Spiders ... and they should be. They are the ones that bought these animals and worked with them. Yeah, some people will complain but that's too bad.

If a Super Pin comes about, great!! If not, it's still an awesome morph that everyone needs in their collection
