Any one have any info on a piece of gear??

I'm looking at getting a rainbow boa, and was looking for a effecient way to maintain the 85% to 90ish% humidity ( it's gonna be a young snake/newborn in case you were wondering why the humidity was going to be so high ) Well, I was walking through my local pet store, saw this Tropic Aire Reptile Humidifier and Air Exchanger. I bought it, set it up in my BP's old cage, put a piece of plexiglass over the top to cover the screen, and voila, maintaining 88 to 92% with no problem. However, have any of you guys actually used one of these things in an enclosure before, or something like it?? My concern is there's not enough air getting into the enclosure. The systems being run by a pump rated for a 50 to 60 gallon tank, and the tank is only a long 20. SO any thoughts guys! Thanks in advance!!

i have not used something like this but have seen them. to me it seems it is a waste of money since it could be made much cheaper from hardware store parts, but thats beside the point.
the way the thing works is to pump in humid air, which is still pumping in fresh air so i would not worry at all about your ventilation.

I know what the freaking thing is supposed to do, I can read the box just as easy as the next guy. So I'll ask again, does any one use something like that to maintain the humidity in their enclosures??

I use one for my GTP.

I've been using it for about five years, and have never sprayed or misted the animal or enclosure. Perfect sheds every time, and no problems. My GTP drinks from the water dish.

You need to get a big airpump -- match it to the gallon capacity of your enclosure and seal off all vents. If you leave the vents wide open all the benefit escapes.

I have just a slight portion of one vent open to prevent condensation on the cage door, and it works perfectly.

You can buy just the infuser with hoses and airstone, without their pump if you need to get a pump with a larger capacity.

The big benefit is the fresh humidified air -- nothing stale or stagnant.

I have forced hot air heat and my house can get very dry in the winter. But not in the GTP cage!
