Ok first off:

Placing 2 snakes in the same cage is never a good idea, unless it is for breeding.
Placing a W/C snake with a C/B snake is even worse, because of all the parasites and possible pathogens the W/C can introduce to your C/B snake!!!

Corn snakes are by nature solitary creatures and do not co-habitate, so by housing them together you probably stressed them both out.

What are the temps you are keeping your snakes at? How long have you had the C/B snake?

Place something in between the snakes enclosures so they cannot see each other. Make sure they have a cool end (65-70F) and a warm end (75-80F) in their enclosures. A hide on each end and water. Leave your snakes alone for a few days to let them de-stress.
You might also want to monitor your C/B snake for any type of parasites/diseases it may have picked up from you W/C.

Putting 2 corns in the same cage most likely stressed out your other snake and hence she began biting. She may have gotten sick from the other snake also, and doesn't feel up to par hence the biting....

Ok, I will agree with the others when they say the stress from being housed with the other snake probably contributed to the bad attitude when they were together.
Now, though, I would check the temps. And check them closely.
When the temps get too hot it can cause a snake to get a serious attitude. I would recommend (this is my recomendation only) making sure the hot side is 80 to 83. I would try to keep it below 83 if I could.
Try that and regular handling and see if it doesn't settle down.

Dude, do you know about commas and periods? lol

Hotshot Dec 02, 2005 10:23 AM

Glad that you checked the heat. That hot is not good for a corn. A little hotter and you could have cooked it!
I have found the best thing to do, is to hook a rheostat up to any type of heat element, unless it is the human heat pad with a built in setting switch or dial.
