WC corns

crazycorn Dec 01, 2005 12:44 PM

Here are some WC Corn photos from recently. Notice the difference in color? Eye color? They were only caught 20 miles from each other. The 2nd is a common look for the corns around here.

That odd WC I caught 6 months ago.

I found this little girl last night at our local college.

Those are some nice corns you found there, especially the first one, if the first one was a male and breed to Zee's golden corn, i bet it would produce some real nice babys. What do you else all think?

Have to admit you got a point there, Cameron. That (pale orange) colored corn's yellow pigment dominates and the red is greatly reduced giving it a pale orange appearance. I did find one similar to that one, except that it had some faint longitudal stripes going down it. It was also a female that I bred and then turned loose. (I didn't like her too much because she didn't have much red on her, had two dark longitudal stripes and thought she may have had some ratsnake genes in her?). Of course the one that David has lacks the faint dark stripes and thus looks a lot better than the one I had. I'll try to find another pic of that "ugly" one and post it. Meanwhile here's a pic of ol' "Goldie":

She is such a great looking snake Zee. Man i wish i had her. Maybe one day i will find a "blue" corn snake. lol. That would be something interesting.

Yes, a blue corn!!!! Holly SHOOT! That would be AWESOME (or even a blue kingsnake, since I got just about ALL the others colors covered within my large collection of kings!)

I love the dark ones, I have had a few that most people would call ugly but to me were gorgeous in their own right. Maybe eventually we could breed the two lines together later on down the road, or atleast one of the hatchlings from yours. Mine is a male BTW.

By the way, I was not implying that YOUR snake was ugly in any way (mine was), it's beautiful and I love the dominant yellow colors, especially on his sides. How big is he? Thanks,

Zee

No I didn't take it that way Zee, takes a lot to insult me any way. My male is a solid 3'.

What a gorgeous snake! It looks like it has gold leaf on its head. Hope that coloration isn't a fluke and you can eventually breed that gene out.

BlueKing Dec 02, 2005 11:59 PM

Thanks - Fluke? Well, I will know for sure when the eggs hatch (from the hets) in the summer of 07'. So far all the babies are very normal looking...Until then, keepin' my fingers crossed and being patient,

Zee

WOW.......that looks almost like its painted, pretty. What color or description is that called, and how much is it worth?

westernNC Dec 01, 2005 08:18 PM

are the fact that they are locale specific. There are so many morphs and "designer" corns out there right now that it is more rare to find wild caught beauties available. Just my opinion, but I think breeding Zee's corn to that one would reduce the worth a bit...I'd rather see Cumberland County Golden Corns any day! I guess a lot of that is just Peter's influence...

That being said, those two above are really nice. Where were they found?

Michael

St. Lucie County, FL. on the western edge.
