Infrared Lamps and Sleep

redbeard92 Dec 01, 2005 03:09 PM

Hello,

Today I replaced a broken 250W Ceramic heater with a 250W Infrared bulb. I've read that its ok to run the bulb continuously because the infrared light won't disrupt an animals sleep cycle.

I want to run the bulb continuously because the fixture it replaces was run as well. I am currently using another infrared that is on a 12 hour timer with success.

So, is it ok to keep on during the night?

Thanks,

Rob

Rob,

You should be able to run the infrared bulb 24/7 without any difficulties. Infrareds wont cause any issues. After a talk with Chris Dieter, he mentions that you can actually leave on standard daylight type bulbs 24/7 without any issues with the animals as well.

Thanks Chris,

I gleaned my information from pages of companies selling the bulbs, but I wanted to check with the people who actually keep the animals.

Thanks again for the reassurance.

I rarely turn my lights off in the winter, at least on the animals that have lights i.e. the younger ones.

No problems.
