big decision to be made...

ok. my last pair of henkeli eggs were laid as i moved from raleigh to charlotte, on july 23. now both eggs were doing fine, just taking a heck of a lot longer than all my others. about a week ago, i candled my 4 remaining eggs, 2 of which i realized were duds in otherwise good eggs. the two in question showed me that something was inside. however, since theyre taking so long (a lil over 4 months now), i began to wonder if the hatchlings died in the egg. i know from past experience, eggs in which the embryo died will eventually get soft from decomposition, so soft they will crack if they are lightly tapped. so ive been tapping the eggs, and today one of them cracked. scared me at first, but then i noticed something moving in the egg. it ended up popping out, fully formed and ready to go (although its gotta work on its balance a bit). now im scared about the other one. im not sure if i should crack it or not. the main reason im in a hurry to get them out is that im going to be heading out of town in a couple weeks, leaving the geckos in someone else's care, and i want to make sure they're kickin it before i leave. i know ive been a big advocate of not cracking open eggs like this, and i feel like such a hypocrite now. so do i follow my own advice, or do i crack this other egg open (it should be ready to go like the other) so i can tend to the lil guys?

i should also mention that the tail makes it look a tad dehydrated. i know others have had recent hatchlings come out like this, but for those of you like eve who have had full term babies end up dead, do the tails look curled? this also could be just because it has dried and its skin is sticking together (on half of the tail seems alright).

Well .... if it's dead it's dead so I would just leave it be until it gets funky. Don't break your own rules. Everytime I do that I get into trouble.
