Carpet Python Emergency!!!!

motogpfan Dec 01, 2005 08:47 PM

I bought a baby carpet at the Daytona show this summer. He's
been eating fine until about 4 weeks ago. I checked him out and noticed the inside of his mouth has a medium to dark grey color.I dont know if this is normal coloration for this breed because my ball, burm, chondro and emerald all have white gum lines. At first I thought it was mouth rot but he's not foaming or has any mucus around his mouth and he's acting normal. He' tounge is moving fine from watching him. I'm hoping thats the way it's supposed to be and he's going through a winter phase so he wont eat for a while. I would hate to lose this baby, need advice please..........

my carpet did the same thing about 3 weeks ago so i'm in the same boat as you right now . The inside of my girls mouth has always been a greyish purple colour so i think that part is normal.By the way how old is your carpet and has it shed yet?

He's about 9 months, I'm looking for pics of the inside of their mouths, I think it's normal but I started stressing when he stopped eating. it may be a winter phase, I'm not sure.

The color sounds normal. My female yearling has done the same thing both winters I've had her. Increasing the temp a few degrees turns her right back on. My male, however, would eat every day of the week if I let him - regardless of conditions.
Go figure!
