Anyone use Provent-a-mite for Cribos......?

bthacker Dec 02, 2005 12:18 AM

I got a boa in last night that I did not notice mites on until tonight. I did not keep her in my snake room but in my house in a spare bedroom and I am worried that some mites may have travelled to my snake room.....needless to say I am PO'd.

I have used PAM a year ago with great success on some boas but I wasn't so sure about using it with Cribos......is it safe?

Anyone??

What I 've always used in the past was flea and tick spray that is SAFE FOR KITTENS AND PUPPIES. Do not spray right on snake, rather sray it on a rag, and then wipe the snake down with the moistened rag. Clean the cage out, and wipe the cage with the same rag. If you have any cage decorations make sure you clean those also.

I have used Provent for about 6 years now and have never had any problems or mites for that matter. I have Easterns and Blacktails. Whenever I acquire a new snake, I use it as a preventative. Just use as directed.

I don't know anyone who has used PAM with Drymarchon, but some friends of mine have had some real problems with it (like instant death) when used for some other colubrids. If you can find it, my weapon of choice is Black Knight.

hey, i actely dont use spray or somthing.

when my indigo's have mite, i place them on newspaper and spray whit little water.
here in belgium , there is petroleum in the newspaper, and that kill the mites.
i dont know the ingredients, how the news paper is in other countrie's.

but here its helping great. every snakekeeper here used it.
