Have a question about taming and handling my young waterdragon

mrc1330 Dec 02, 2005 02:20 PM

I have a CWD less than 10 inches long, im guessin she's about 7-8 months old, either way, i've had her since oct 27,2005 and she's very settled into her cage and she eats properly and everythings normal

Only thing i wonder about is when i take her out to handle her... she usually doesn't like to bed around my stomach, she'll continuously return to my shoulder and sit there, BUT i notice that she gets very dark. Is this STRESS or is she just not used to being handled yet. I take her out for maybe 15 minutes a day. and then put her back.

Stress will cause it, but they also darken in color in cooler conditions to absorb more heat. I don't usually handle my dragons during the winter months, except in the bathroom. I steam it up real well by running the shower with hot water before I bring them in. Remember, that they always like to be higher than their surroundings, so they can identify potential predators-that's why they always run up your shoulder. Mine sit on my head. Diane
