Striped Burmese

ox Jul 23, 2003 12:54 PM

Does anyone own or now of the morph it also comes in albino so I am thinking it must be genetic. If anyone knows what would they offer for a burm like this.

I don't know why you'd come to the conclusion that it must be genetic just because there are some striped albinos. Albinos can be incubated at suboptimal temperatures just as easily as normals can.

It was just the thought that I had. It is also the second clutch. This is the ad.

Striped Burmese Python Babies! Beautiful animals! The makings of future strains? See Photo!
Striped Burmese Pythons
Captive-Bred 2003
IncubationACV Period 59 Days
Date of Birth: June 25, 2003
29 of 30 eggs hatched producing 13 males and 16 females. 12 of the 29 are albino.
The father is albino and both parents have normal looking patterns.
Similar results were achieved with the same parents last year.

Well you can have any thought you want or assume anything you want. It's your money. However, I'd need a little more than vague statements from an unknown breeder before I'd shell out anything for them.

Note the breeder doesn't even say it's genetic -- just that "similar results were obtained last year." That's weasily. Similar results could be obtained by incubating at similar temperatures.

I am now at a point where I say even if it is not genetic I would not mind owning one. What would be a good offer. It must at least be a 66% het for albino since there are albino hatchlings in the same clutch.

I took a similar bet with sand boas. If it's worth the money to you, it's worth the money, I guess. I have to wait 2 more years to see if my bet pans out :P. Hope springs eternal...

i would offer $100 - $125. thats more then a normal, and less then the average albino. that way, you have the 66% het for albino, and you also have a chance that the stripe will be passed on. and if its niether het albino and the stripe does not pass, you didnt spend too much money.
