non-native?

New here, but someone told me that the Texas Indigo and Eastern Indigo were imports to those areas (were non-native). Any truth to this?

That sounds like something a crooked land developer came up with...it is sometimes difficult to disprove a rumor. Old records, the literature and anecdotal accounts say that Drymarchon has been in its present haunts (as well as those from where it has disappeared) since before anyone can account. I know of no repatriation efforts that have succeeded, I really can't imagine who would start such a rumor with no obvious foundation.

There is a rumor that eastern indigos were imported into Texas years ago. Perhaps that's what you're referring to.
I don't know if it holds water or not, but there are some very red Texans out there.
