Anyone going to have CBB Moluccans anytime soon?

thewho Dec 02, 2005 05:53 PM

I'm fast falling in love with these snakes and would love to add one to my collection. Anyone know of anyone having an CBB available any time soon?

No one in the States has ever been successful at it. Yasser at Spitfire hatched one a few years back, and it died shortly after. I know there are several breeders attempting it.

Thanks. I appreciate the info. Do you know of any reliable distributors then?

I got my male from NERD(New England Reptile Distributors)and he is a splendid snake. He came in very healthy and feeding. Kara was a blast doing business with. Give them a call and see what they have. Ask for Kara or Andy(he's the scrub guy). They have been very helpful after the sell as well. Sometimes Bushmaster has some for sale, but Moluccans are generally a call and ask species. They aren't advertised much. Ben Siegel has them advertised seldomly, and they are usually quality specimens too.

I had planned to buy one from NERD in the next couple of weeks...they sold him over the weekend!! Doh! He was hot too. And also the only Mol they had on hand.Andy does have some cbb barnecks though.
I just saw an ad from Regal Reptiles (in RI)...they have a few mols availabe. RJ's in Nashua NH also has a male right now. All imports. They are either wild caught or captive hatched.
As Matt already pointed out, there hasn't been any success w/ captive breeding in the USA...so don't let anyone try to convince you that they are CBB!! Good luck!! I want one too!!

P.S. There is a guy in Germany who claims to have bred them successfully more than once...
