Albino Eastern Kings??

dawnrenee2000 Dec 03, 2005 01:14 PM

Is anyone breeding albino or het for albino Eastern Kings?

I have not seen any albino traits in Eastern Kings and wondered if anyone had any.

I would love too see a pic if so. I am starting my hunt for the perfect pair of Eastern Kings. I have been wanting to add them to my king snake collection for a while.

They're out there, and they're neat. Here's a pic of one. I believe the ones I got about 5 yrs ago were pure; a few people thought not. If you buy some now, just press the seller to make sure they weren't produced recently from crosses to other getula subspecies.

Wow...that is beautiful. Do you have suggestions on where to buy one or a pair of good Easterns from? It is very important to me that they are not cross breeds but genuine Easterns.I dont care about age , I just want to get them going in our collection.

I will not deal with individuals that just play with the snake thing anymore. NOthing against them, its a great hobby, but to set up a good breeder line I want to work with bigger dealers/breeders. Anyone have any suggestions for a good breeder with some Eastern's for sale ???

Dawn,
I don't understand why you asssociate bigger breeder/dealers with better. It's often quite the opposite. When you think of dogs, big "puppy mills" are legendary for poor conditions and low quality animals. Smaller dealers with a real love of the species, and an interest in keeping the highest quality animals are often better. There are some awesome eastern king breeders who post regularly on this forum. They clearly show a love of the species. Some are very intersted in keeping locality animals pure. I would rather buy from these folks than some large reptile breeder that carries many species of animals and cares very little about quality or purity, just profit. I'll mail you privately to suggest some places to start.

Greg, I totally agree with you and must have not represented my thoughts well. My thoughts are that I dont want to buy from people who just have a few snakes as hobbyist and then decide to sell them on here. I am seeing more and more of that lately. The ones who are NOT breeders I guess are the ones I speak of.

I totally agree about the smaller breeders being good. My best business experience so far was with Don Shores. I wouldn't say he was a huge breeder, but his service and quality of animals was awesome and I would happily do business with him again.
