My big female Timor...hopefully this is the year!

ReptileHQ Jul 23, 2003 01:17 PM

I have 5 Timors, this girl is the biggest of them all(she has to be around 7 feet and THICK), hopefully this is the year it all happens. Just thought I'd share this pic. If anyone can share some breeding tips, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Chris

What a beautiful Python. What are their temperments like?

Well, temperment you ask....

If you are really gentle when you pick one of mine up, they usually tolerate it, although you might get snapped at the odd time....however, if you grab one or try to man-handle them...you will definitely be met with a shower of defication, repeated strikes, and such...lol

None in my group will ever be "boa" tame....and I'm sure that I can speak for most other timor owners, that the species on the whole share the same temperment as my examples, but its all in good fun. They always put a smile on my face.

I would have to completely concur. I have 12 on a breeding loan, and I would say most are not too "strikey", just deliberate in their actions, but definitely do not tolerate alot of handling and will copiously excrete when restrained. I have a good handful that used to excrete as soon as I picked them up, most of which have abandoned (or greatly decreased) the regular use of this response. But, these are fantastic snakes, very beautiful, and a joy to work with. Good luck!
