Fresh water

Megamada Dec 04, 2005 03:26 PM

Okay my neighbor took care of my JCP for a few weeks. Aparently she didnt take the water dish out to add fresh water and instead she poured it through the top. Once I got home to give her water the dish was slimy..do you think that the water in the dish was like bad? Will anything go wrong or should I just make sure for now on to bring her to my reptile specialist to board? Appreciate the responses..im very particular about my reptiles and now im just really worried.

It is common for that slime to appear on water in bowls that are not cleaned regularly. It shouldn't harm your snakes in any way, just make sure that you continue to provide fresh water and next time you leave your snakes in someone else's care make sure they know to remove the bowl and wash it when they change the water.

I know snakes don't always have access to the freshest of water in the wild and I seriously doubt it cause it harmful effects, as long as you don't allow it to become a common occurence.

Sounds like copper from the pipes. It will form a skim on top. Long term exposure isn't good, but short term is ok.
