crossbreeding?

can anyone let me know weather my garters (checkerds, redsideds, and plains)will crossbreed if they are kept in the same cage.

Garters are very prolific breeders, and I would say you hold a high possibility of having some red-spotted checkered garters soon if you do.

that's interesting. is that how we get the various colorations (aka morphs)?

Well it isn't necesserily how we get the morphs, as most of them are produced within their own suspecies. Just remember that the north american garters are all so closely related that getting them to breed isn't complicated. Generally breeding two suspecies is very easy to do.
