Temporary Setup for Jungle Carpet Python

BloodManDan Dec 04, 2005 04:58 PM

I am going home for a month for winter break and need a temporary enclosure for my carpet python. She's around 4.5 feet long. I have plastic shoe boxes for my other snakes that work great, but was wondering on my options for the carpet python. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

why not just use a rubermaid or sterilite. you can often find them fairly large, enough for your carpet python. you may be forced to use undercage heating unless you construct your own lid using wire mesh and wood or something similar.
i would suggest looking into tree boa caging on the tree boa fourm as i often see setups similar to what i am speaking of using rubermaids.

If you do go with the Rubbermaid its pretty easy to set up overhead heat. Cut out a circle, drill holes around its perimeter, set screen on top. Sew it in with string or fishing line. Duct tape on top of that. Boom, circle top. I didn't initially bother with sewing it in until I had an escape.

Does it need climing space? I know my carptet spends a lot of time in its tree branches, and I didnt know if it should have room enought to climb.
