Neat photo Al,

How come you posted it in the crotalidae forum? How does bothrops relate to rattlesnakes? (I know I sound dumb, but I really don't know)

Thanks

It belongs here because it's a Pit Viper.....

And, this forum should probably be called "Crotalinae" but that's just me. Al, those are really cute aspers but their personalities sure aren't....are you working with them? I kept two and of all of the venomous herps I worked with, those were the two that I least liked having to move around; like a krait on crack!

Hi Rob:

Evil they are for sure!! They get worse as they grow larger. These are very smart, fast , agile snakes. I would have to say (my opinion) that they are the most dangerous pit vipers in the Americas. I've never worked a large Lachesis, so I think they are the only contenders to unseat the Aspers.

I work with a couple of large Lachesis (stenophrys) and they are FAR easier than a medium sized adult asper. They both have their unique personalities but I have found aspers to be much more explosive when provoked (not that you want to push it with a 10' bushy!).

I agree with Rob.
Lachesis are pretty predictable in behavior, but aspers can go ballistic!
Adult moojeni, In my opinion, are even worst than aspers.
