Here is another one that decided today was a good time to chow down, after "only" 2 months of just laying on the cool side of her tub, a couple times i thought she croaked on me. Oh well, good thing she was a fatty b/4 she went off food and thought it was a good idea to lose a little wt.

thanks for looKING

A story I know all too well. My Cali King did almost the same thing. She went off food for a month. Wierd. My other 3 snakes ate like champs. When she's doing that, how often do you offer food?

When i have a snake doing the self imposed brumation/fasting trip i offer live food every 2-3 weeks and only if they're on the prowl or or hanging out on the warmside of their tub.
I have a New Mexican milksnake that's going on it's 17th wk of self imposed brumation/fasting and still looks healthy so far, from what i understand that's not all that uncommon for some of the N.American triangulums

Thanx for the info. I think I'll try doing the same. Wow 17 weeks! I only have 4 snakes (other three are Pituophis c. annectans, Heterodon nasicus, Antaresia Childreni) and my Cali King was the only one to behave in such a fashion. I guess it is a lampropeltis trait because my friend's Cali King's appetite is tapering off too. It's an '05 and it's eating every 2 weeks.
