red eye question

sleepofapples Dec 04, 2005 11:52 PM

i bought a few red eyes at the show this weekend.. the guy i bought them from said they were black eyes but im fairly sure they arent.. they have the blue sides and orange feet, the exact markings of a red eye... they do however have extremely dark red eyes.. almost black.. if you look at them with a light you can tell that they are blood red... do thier eyes change color? or is there a certain region or something where they are darker?

Sometimes.. the eyes are really dark.. I don't think they change colors though. I have heard the darker eyed frogs refered to as ruby-eyed before.. but, truth be known.. they are just red-eyes..

it was at the altanta show this past saturday and sunday...they were $20 each.. i found one site that said that some of the ones caught further south towards costa rica have darker eyes... so i guess that is maybe where they came from... i was just worried that if they came from a different region they might need a different setup (higher or lower humidity and temp).. i was planning on keeping them with my regular red-eye... hopefully they are going to do ok in the same setup...
