Atlanta Reptile Show

PattySchildt Dec 05, 2005 05:58 AM

I went to the Atlanta Reptile Show at Cobb Galleria, the new venue site, and was very disappointed. After they cancelled it at Gwinnett Civic Center and rescheduled it in Cobb County, they talked about how much bigger and better it would be. I felt it was a waste of my time and money. Directions from the website were bad. It took us a while to figure out exactly where it was being held. There weren't as many vendors as they said there would be. I was specifically looking for cages, and there were none. I hope the next show, in June '06, will be better.

I think there were too many last minute problems that really hurt the show. There was a change in the location and the date. Some of the vendors, including myself, were already scheduled for another show on the same date. I didn't get to attend, but am sorry that you were disappointed. There is another show coming up the first weekend in January in Columbia SC, Perhaps you'll find your cages there.

I can understand the last minute change and conflicts in schedules with vendors already being booked elsewhere. Whoever is in charge of scheduling this event made a big mistake by changing it so close to show time. They should have let it be in Gwinnett county at the Civic Center as scheduled, then change it next year. I see that they have 2 shows scheduled for next year, one in June and one in Oct. I'll give it another chance and go in June. But this one was pretty bad for the way they had advertised it as being so good.

All the facilities at the Gwinnett Center were sold out. They didn't have any buildings available for the weekend.

my boyfriend and i went on sunday, when the show was *advertised* to run until 5:00. we arrived around 2:00, and saw what little was there by around 3:00 -- there were many apparently vacated booths (we guessed as such by the debris left behind in them) and vendors who were packing up already. very, very, *very* disappointing.

if a show is advertised to run until a certain time, and they continue to charge full admission price, you should be able expect to see everything there is to see -- not scramble to check out a few vendors' wares as they blithely pack up in your face.

an additional complaint i have is that they were playing unnecessary *loud* music/announcements over the p.a. system (especially considering how few people were there). anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together knows that reptiles don't like loud noises. they're already in a stressful environment, so they could at least take the volume down a few notches in the interest of having a somewhat humane environment for the animals.

worst $18 we've ever spent. we won't be returning. i sent a rather polite complaint email, and noone replied, which cements this decision. shows how much they care, eh?

He only checks his email every few days or so.

that would explain the lack of resonse, then.

it's a shame, too, because last year it was a pretty good show.

Yes, it was a good show last year. But everything had gone as planned without all the last minute confusion.
