Janie & Chip

PHRatz Dec 05, 2005 09:45 AM

I was really starting to worry about Janie, after she saw the vet on Thursday I couldn't get her to eat! I've tried everything I can think of & was going to call her vet about this today but finally yesterday evening I got her to eat some meal worms all by herself. I guess she must be feeling better now, she sounds better. I was hearing a congested sound coming from her, I didn't hear it yesterday.

Chip's weight is staying in the 390-395 gram area, if he continues to stay in this range for a few more days I may try cutting back on his tube feedings & see if he'll eat on his own. I was planning to drop by the pet store today to see if I can find some wax worms or something other than what we have already. Maybe wax worms would interest him & some of the others around here who'd like something different for a change.
I'm just so glad both of them are doing a lot better!

They WERE doing great but it's the holiday time of year when everything goes wrong lol.
I went to feed Chip this morning, I don't know how he did it but he has managed to remove his feeding tube by himself.
I have a problem with another pet, I already have an appointment for her set for this afternoon so I called them this morning to let them know Chip is coming in too.
Before he goes though, I think he'll take a bath then I'll put a plate of food in front of him & we'll see if he feels like eating on his own today.

Chip should write a novel of his ordeals

Sounds like this would be a perfect opportunity to see if Chip will eat on his own. I'd give'm a day or two to prove that he needs or doesn't need the tube replaced.

That's exactly what we are doing, we're taking this opportunity to see if he'll eat on his own but so far no luck. Maybe today he'll try a little food.
I went turtle food shopping yesterday, Janie ate the berries I bought, Chip didn't. He also didn't eat the lives foods, or the canned box turtle food or anything else I put on the plate for him so the plan is for today while I am not home is to leave a plate of food with him to pick at.
If he's not eating on his own by Friday, the tube goes back in.

Today is the day, I have not been able to get Chip to eat a thing. Live foods, fruits, veggies, nothing so the tube goes back in this afternoon.
I'm beginning to think Chip's story is going to turn out like PHWyvern's lawn mowed Eastern, he'll eat in spring when he knows he's supposed to be awake. At least I hope he'll eat on his own by then.

Janie isn't eating very well since she's been under the weather, but Wed. she took her last dose of medication. Yesterday morning as soon as the sun was up she was too, basking in her Superman pose under the CHE. I put a plate of berries in front of her & she ate it! WHoooooooo hooooooo!
